HOP Child/Tertiary concessions:
renew now!

A HOP student leaps

The concessions on HOP Tertiary/Child cards expire on 31 March. This means that unless you renew before that date, your HOP card will revert to an adult profile and you’ll pay adult fares.

Making sure this doesn’t happen is a matter of completing a form and sending us a copy of ID (if you’re a secondary or tertiary student) or parent/guardian declaration (if you’re a child) to prove that you’re entitled to your discounted HOP fares. Do this before 21 March (or even earlier) and you won’t pay a cent more than you have to.

Renewal applications can be done one of three ways:

  • by dropping off forms at the Concession Renewals window at Britomart which will be set up from 20 February until mid-April, at Newmarket or New Lynn transport centres, or with the HOP Helpers stationed at selected tertiary campuses;
  • or by mailing completed forms to Auckland Transport using a Freepost address you’ll find on the form.

You’ll need signed copies of your tertiary or secondary school student ID, and to register your card if you haven’t already.
